- Abstract in English : Green roofs and modern rainwater recycling systems are no mutually exclusive technologies. The combination of these two environmentally friendly technologies leads to various synergetic effects in the fields of urban climate, storm water management and recreational use of the landscape areas. Practical evidence of these benefits is given by the innovative architectural concept of the DaimlerChrysler Project at the Potsdamer Platz in Berlin. Several key factors are to be considered while planning and installing green roofs substrate mixture, drainage elements, plant selection). In addition, the monitoring of the green roof performance at the Potsdamer Platz during the last five years shows the importance of maintenance, irrigation and the specific characteristics of different roof types (Warm roof, inverter roof).
