- Abstract in English : This paper explores the possibilities of integrating of urban design into a holistic community development process. The resurgence of interest in the creation of human-scale communities as seen by the excitement generated by Duany/Plater-Zyberk’s neo-traditional town and Calthope’s pedestrian pockets has created a renewed awareness of the role of urban design. Rather than using urban design as an adjunct discipline in the making of communities there is a growing recognition that urban design strategies must be fully integrated into the community development process.
