- Abstract in English : The landscape of children’s play is changing as park playgrounds give way to commercial family playscapes. Many of the traditional neighbourhood and park playgrounds have been withdrawn or are in a state of disrepair, while landscapes of brightly coloured equipment are emerging in new domains within the urban environment. Children’s intimate association with their local neighbourhood is waning. However, the social dangers, physical dangers and limitations (the quality of play equipment) of neighbourhood and their playgrounds also encourage families to seek compensatory experience beyond their environments.
