This study focuses on public space, urban quality, and urban landscape as fragile resource in all its components for Bucharest City, at territorial level and detail as necessary for the protection, preservation, valuation and management of Bucharest Landscape in the context of current urban competition, considered to be an important element for sustainable economic development in the sense of increasing the quality of life and supporting social and environmental balance.
The study focuses on landscape features, according to the European Landscape Convention, aiming to emphasize Bucharest identity. It is also outlined the necessiry for implement measures aimed to develop a public urban green system at municipal level by developing new types of green spaces with diverse use, and by improving the quality of space existing urban areas and increasing “urban prestige” as a major source of attracting investment and hence enconomic growth of the city.
The project is developed in order to define a consistent landscape of the city, as well as a set of categories of interventions aimed to create a prestigious space, environmental and image.
The objective of this study was to provide the information needed to formulate development decisions within Bucharest Strategy for 2035 horizon, referring at landscape and public urban spaces.
The study focused on a specific methodology in order to research landscape components, in order to limit the adverse effects of microclimate, increase quality of life and enhancement of the economic and tourism potential for Bucharest City.
The study refers to major landscape topologies and landscape features of Bucharest, heritage elements with potential for valuation and development through a coherent management scheme. The study outlines also main priorities concerning enhancement of environmental conditions and sustainable management of natural and built heritage in Bucharest City.
