  • Comments/Notes : OUTLINE: The destructive winds of hurricane Andrew dramatically changed the urban forest in Dade County., Florida. Overnight the tree canopy was replaces by a landscape of uprooted, defoliated and severely damaged trees. Native tree species were the best survivors. Wind resistance should be a criterion in tree species selection.
