  • Abstract in English : The project teens_open_space promotes youth participation within city and municipal development and in the designing of public spaces. The project aims to increase the quality of public open spaces and the recognition of open spaces as important social spaces. The project develops and tests participatory and networking processes, in order to counterbalance both spatial and social deficits and disadvantages of certain user groups in public spaces, in particular those of teenage girls and boys. teens_open_space explores teenage interests and tries to open public space for young people in co-operation with municipalities, youth organisations and schools/training centres. The goal is to include young people into a planning process as active partners and to activate their perception and action resources. The project results in identity and creativity in the design of public spaces and in actual, usable improvements in the environment of the participating young people.
