The Woodland Trust appointed simon Bell as the landscape consultant although several other consultants were employed to survey information such as soils, archaeology and nature conservation. The design incorporated an pattern of access paths, areas of different habitat and several interpretatvie sculptural features.

  • Brief Description : This is a new area of woodland planting as part of the commemoration of the 200th aniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar. Victory Wood is named for HMS Victory, Admiral Nelson's flagship. The project entailed planting an area of woodland to restore the landscape, to provide new habitats and to open a large area to public access on foot, by bicycle and on horseback. The site is prominent in the landscape and there are views out from it.
