Until 1998 Fornebu was the site for the main airport for Oslo. After the airport was abandoned the former land owners, The City of Oslo and the national government represented by Statsbygg, have recreated the entire Fornebu peninsula with new infrastructure and green areas including The Nansen park as part of their obligation to the new land owners for the housing areas.
