- Brief Description : A new city neighbourhood with around a thousand apartments has been developed in Vienna's 2nd district on a site that had previously been home to Nordbahnhof station. The outdoor design opted to give the green space an amorphous form in order to create a stronger sense of cohesion between the lots and the architecture. The system of paths made of non-slip, coarse-grained concrete cast in situ provides a way through the estate and a place to stroll, frequently widening out so as to create a succession of more open expanses.Concave and convex concrete benches separate the areas of cast-in-place concrete from the lawns and offer an inviting place to while away some time. A grassy hill, a volleyball court, and balance beams encourage recreational activities and offer children play areas tailored to their respective age groups. The range of possibilities offered by the open spaces is supplemented by the recreational and relaxation area for adults, a wooden sunbathing deck on the roof that is aslo equipped with flower beds for gardening enthusiast and serves as a place for residents to meet (Lička, L.; Grimm, K.
