  • Abstract in English : The ability to facilitate positive change in the environment requires knowledge and understanding of interaction among people, plants, and the environment. Knowledge of the individual elements of the relationship is required to understand their interaction. This paper presents a progress report on a research program that considers some of these elements and interactions. Plants will be assessed for their landscape values by groups of people with varying expertise and their reaction to specific plant quantified. The authors propose that the knowledge gained from this study van be developed into a capacity for positive influence on the landscape and may ultimately be used to raise awareness of the use of trees in the landscape, there by leading to significant environmental improvement.
