- Abstract in English : This article reviews accounts of notable yew trees in Ireland to examine the history of interest un these trees and to consider likely ages. Many yew in Ireland are associated with historic landscapes, past events and traditions, leading to a belief that these trees are of exceptional age. The stories and traditions that surround massive yews reflect the importance that the species has for many people and, whatever their truth, stories that stimulate interest in trees and our relationship with the environment are to be valued.
