  • Abstract in English : OUTLINE: People have a number of reasons for going to outdoor environments during their leisure time. These motives can be summarised in a rather short list. Prominent on this list are stress reduction and being in the company of one’s close relatives or friends. In this paper, the authors consider the combination of these two motives and how that combination expresses itself in environmental preferences. They initiated this study because they observed that environmental preference studies as well as studies of environmental effects on psychological restoration seemingly pay attention to the social contexts in which those environments are experienced and restoration is or not achieved. New insights have been found in this study.
