  • Abstract in English : OUTLINE: Children’s environment is not restricted to home, home yard or playground: the whole neighbourhood acts as a stage, that either affords or restricts children’s activities and development. Children are actually among the largest consumers of public outdoor environment. Still their needs are often forgotten in the planning and renewal processes or they are suppressed by the needs of other – louder – interest groups. This paper reports a Finish study on the effect of urbanisation on the freedom of children.
