- Abstract in English : The urban forest is of great importance for the inhabitants of Sweden. In general, more than 80 per cent of the adult population visits the forest at least once each year. Also, the most frequently visited forests are located less than 1 km from our homes. Today, 83 per cent of the Swedish population is living in urban areas and more than 50 percent of all forest visits are to urban forest. The aim of this study is to show some possibilities for creating a multifunctional urban forest using pre-commercial thinning. Enhancing the variation in the natural regenerated mixed young forest does this. A very early thinning created twelve different small forest compartments. Every forest type service a specific function and has its own out look. For example: The Children’s Forest, The mixed Forest, The Walk the Dog Forest and the High Forest-Like Pine Forest. Future measurements are proposed for each compartment.
