Development plan of the Chantiers district

The former project had been going on for years but its implementation was not started. The commercial surface has been lowered from 17600 m2 to 1600 m2. The economical and sustainable aspects in the new project have been totally reconsidered, as well as the link with the historical urban fabric.

  • Brief Description : The development plan of the Chantiers district involves both urban and transport aspects, including the creation of a multimodal exchange pole with the railway station, the bus station, a Parking lot and a bike place. This will contribute to make the connexions between different types of transports easier. The new municipality team associated with the help of the office AREP (Duthilleul and Tricaud) has concluded a very strong improvement of the former project, based on the development of the historical and vegetation heritage of the Gobert lakes. Thus, the buildings will settle on the natural ground sticking to the local topography instead of a large artificial concrete ground. In this new project the 2 former lakes are preserved as full green areas, giving a foot access to the station, only by day in the beginning , it will be fully lighted in the completed project.
