FROM PAST TO PRESENT GENCLIK PARK

Genclik Park is a historical park of Ankara. An urban park had been created by The govenment and public in Ankara where is the capital of young republic of Turkey like at southern cities. The government and public had been decided that creating a Genclik Park and French ‘’Theo Leveau’’ for designing this park in 1936. By Genclik Park, a prestige area that gave the capital’s by giving first great effect, was generated.
In 1951 Italian Fun Fair which had come into Ankara for visiting, It`s sample had been built there. In 1957 two miniature tren, circulating the park was begun to be oporated. Until early 1960’s water sports had been done and concerts had been performed on the side of the pool.
Genclik Park, regenerated by Ankara Municipality, was brought together citizen in 2009. Nowadays, there is no mark from The Park’s historic heritage. Cultural pattern of Gençlik Park, that symbol of socialization and urban culture, was destroyed by the name of modernization.
