- Contents in English : OUTLINE: The author’s preferred definition of a greenway, as proposed in 1995, remains: ‘a route which is good from an environmental point of view. The aim of the research described in this paper was to relate the history and theory of greenway planning to the current situation in Britain; what might be achieved to what is being done in Britain at the start of the 21 st century. This was done by means of questionnaire. The questions ware inended to elicit: 1. how the term ‘greenway’ is currently used in Britain; 2. What greenway planning is taking place in Britain; 3. what plans local authorities in Britain have for the future of greenway planning.
