  • Abstract in English : Facing increasing complexity of modern settlements today, where built up areas cannot be distinguished from rural areas any more but create urban landscapes, an interdisciplinary approach in analysis, planning and design is needed in teaching and professional practice. This requests certain competences. International and interdisciplinary student workshops are seen as one attempt to develop such competences by experiencing different ways of professional work, different methods as well as different manners of teaching. Such kind of workshops should be integrated in international co-operation programmes, where Landscape Architecture is integrated with Town Planning and Architecture. A workshop held at Kassel in May 2005 aimed to establish such network structures between universities. Such kind of exchange may be an important attempt to force the envisaged Bologna process.
