Many Jewish cemeteries, especially in smaller towns, are “forgotten”, some are well maintained – but most of them are not well known. They are witnesses of the life and its changes during the last century and still keep a very unique atmosphere. We found out a lot about the history of former Jewish communities as part of the regular life in the cities, about the development with the assimilation of Jews and the Holocaust and about personal fates, which were in some cases well documented, in many other cases not.
