- Abstract in English : The paper explains some of the approaches to working with the local communities undertaken by students and staff at Leeds Metropolitan University. A brief introduction to landscape education at Leeds is followed by a review of the Landscape Design and Community Programme. This explains the range of projects undertaken and their place within the curriculum. The paper focuses on discussion of the Earth Centre, a major new environmental initiative in South Yorkshire with which the University is currently involved. The relationship of this project to landscape education and its significance within the local community is explored.
