- Abstract in English : This article is looking into some of the underlying ideas behind the teaching of landscape architecture at Edinburgh College. At this college landscape architecture is a balancing act between professional training and academic education, between visual art and applied science, between regional planning and detail design, between a well-established undergraduate and a newly developed masters programme. The authors still believe that good quality landscape architecture is base both on clear conceptual thinking and on sensitive contextual understanding. Creativity and analytical thinking are not opposed, but are both integral part of the design process.
