  • Abstract in English : Gardens are - completely in framework of Agenda 21 - symbols of sustainable nature’s use. Today we need livable cities, in which people are involved with nature. Therefore it is time to understand the city as garden. But what have for example plazas, park sites or streets to do with a garden? Urban open spaces has been made originally for social and other collective aims; they where community’s places, dominated now by other, private or economical aims. The author shows possibilities of garden like settings in urban open space, which meet people’s needs for meaningful sites and contribute the people’s quality of live. Gardeners and landscapers/landscape architects are in this context the most important companions of urban planners, because they are key persons to tune city’s urbanizing and humanizing.
