  • Abstract in English : Experiencing nature needs to be given greater emphasis in open space planning in order for people to have a more intensive association with urban nature. Transferring rural nature conservation concepts to the urban landscape does not deliver sufficient scope to open urban nature to local residents. The question is how nature can be experienced without institutionalizing nature itself or having to designate new areas of urban green space restricted to prescribed uses. Approaches to the integration of experiencing nature in urban nature conservation can be found in habitat mapping, educational trails, through the way of dealing with wild nature and in wasteland concepts. Examples in England show how experiencing nature can be integrated more fully into open space planning.
