As a result, a fashion towards the production of more natural landscapes in urban areas emerged among landscape professionals, and an increasing amount of landscape practices in urban areas has involved the use of naturalistic styles. In the environmental literature, there is an increasing body of research on urban nature from different perspective concluding that nature has beneficial effects on human beings. However, considerably less research has been carried out into people’s attitudes, specifically in regard to different forms of nature, in urban landscape. Therefore, this study attempts to examine attitudes of urban people to areas of naturalistic landscape in cities to more formal design of green open spaces and tries to fill the gaps that exist in the literature. More specifically the research tries to address the following questions: 1. can public easily differentiates between landscape styles? 2. Do natural landscapes have greater values and benefits than formal ornamental landscapes? 3. Whether people consciously or unconsciously have a preference between landscapes styles and if so what qualities the favoured landscapes have?
