  • Abstract : This book is a collection of texts and projects of the author on the green space. The starting point was the assumption that green spaces in the city today are the garden of the lost Paradise, that oasis of relaxation and tranquility. This explains the title of the book: the garden of Eden is seen as the "Sleeping Beauty", which was once accessible, but needs to be rediscovered, to be called memory. The same is true for green spaces, as very often they are threatened by construction intentions. The texts are often accompanied by proposals, for example in case of the garden of Eden a garden project in itself, as well as a scenographic installation on the rediscovery and gardens in a place, where all memory has been erased. The main part of the book is divided into two sections: the small urban gardens and the wider landscape around the town. Both oppose the uncontrolled tendency to build. A urban gardens are considered as Pocket Parks and the gardens of museums, extending the exhibition space itself. Both texts are accompanied by projects to Heidelberg and the Tate Gallery in London respectively. In case of the museum places, the introduction is the analysis of such a garden by Carlo Scarpa, and in tune with it is made a connection to chapters in the next section, namely the reconstruction of ports and industrial zones. The section concludes with an essay on gardens of homes in Zurich. As an introduction for the second section a trip was made in the world of literature. "Wuthering Heights" (picture on the cover: the author at the site of Wuthering Heights) by Emily Brontë, as an example of landscape to be rediscovered, as presented in the book and film in tune with their feelings. The following chapters outline the contemporary approach: green belts and landscapes of the former industrial areas such as ports and the international exhibition Emscher Park, essay and / or project. Two approaches for green belt are considered for analysis: the Green Belt from Frankfurt, which was brought to life in participative approach during a year (1990), and the Forests and Grasslands belt of Vienna, the oldest one, of more than 100 years. In case of Frankfurt's Green Belt an intervention project in the Green Belt is presented, a museum, which, in keeping with the previous section, is provided with a museum garden. In case of the green belt of Vienna the legal basis for maintaining green space protection is presented. Vienna's Green Belt includes parks from conversion of former industrial sites, such as extraction of clay. Also about participatory approach in building it is in case of the IBA Emscher Park, and the industrial landscapes, which become green landscapes, as in the last presented project, the proposed conversion of the port-city of Karlsruhe to such dialogue. Some chapters have been excerpted from the book on the participatory approach from the same publisher. The entire book is bilingual, in Romanian and German, with nearly 50 color pages.
