  • Abstract in English : The purpose of the case study here presented is to describe how different outdoor environments influence the users’ experience. Three nursing homes for elderly people are studied in this multiple case study. The users’ perspective is the main focus of this paper and originates from focus group interviews with staff. They were asked for their views on three aspects of the outdoor environment of the nursing home: 1) from inside, 2) the immediate surroundings, and 3) the wider neighbourhood. The results of the interviews are used to compare the three cases and show great differences in experience depending on the context and relation of the three aspects in each case.
