- Abstract : Traffic infrastructure plays an important role in Norway. For the last two decades the Norwegian Public Roads Administration has devoted extensive efforts to constructing roads that are not only technically perfect, but also include the surrounding landscape in road planning and design. Roads and brides are therefore also designed according to aesthetic aspects and adapted to the cultural landscape. This book presents exemplary planning and projects from all of Norway’s provinces. The 16 essays provide an account of the history of road building and point out the increasing importance of the mountain and coastal roads for tourism.
