  • Abstract in English : As urbanisation proceeds at an ever-increasing rate across Europe, the demand for a ‘’quality of urban life” also increases. Rapid urban development is not a new phenomenon, and this paper reflects upon the product of an earlier phase of such development in Telford New Town. The rationale behind the design of this landscape will be explored, how it has evolved, and the contribution it has made to the success of the town. This paper indicated that there are lessons to be learned from revisiting the maturing landscapes of UK’s third generation New Towns, before embarking upon the design and lands-use planning of large new areas of urban development. Especially Telfords forestry approach.
