  • Abstract in English : Evidence from studies – involving over 1300 person-space observations and 400 interviews - in inner-city Chicago suggest arboriculture contributes to the health of the social ecosystem. Social indicator included stronger ties among neighbours, greater sense of safety and adjustment, more supervision of children in outdoor spaces, healthier patterns of children’s play, more use of neighbourhood common spaces, fewer incivilities, fewer property crimes, and fewer violent crimes.
