In order to protect view to Namsan Mt. high-rise apartment buildings built on the higher slope of the mountain were demolished after long and hot debates of pros and cons. Namsan Mt. is at the center of Seoul city and it is the single most prominent landmark of the city. The city purchased and removed the buildings in 1994, and the site is now a wild flower garden.
