- Abstract in English : The aim of this conceptual introduction is to show that to face challenges of safeguarding and creating sustainable, healthy, productive and attractive landscapes for the next millennium, landscape ecology needs a much broader holistic and future-oriented conception with clearer definitions of its theoretical and practical aims than those presented in the recent International Association of Landscape Ecology Mission Statement, discussed in the editorial introduction of this volume.
