- Abstract in English : Plant on green roofs very often have to face extreme environmental conditions. In order to survive these temporary “bad times” they have to be drought resistant and show robustness with regards to root competition, wind, frost and emissions. This applies in particular for the vegetation of extensive green roofs with a thin substrate layer. In Germany, natural plant communities like mountain vegetation, dwarf shrub vegetation from dry soils, dry and semi dry grasslands and species from open woodlands have proofed to be e very rich pool for selection of adequate plant species.
